Static and Dynamic luminescence effects of Cr $^{\rm }$-Tm $^{\rm }$ pairs in YAG

Abstract
Luminescence emission of Tm $^{\rm }$ in YAG codoped with Cr $^{\rm }$ under selective (into $^{\rm $E Cr $^{\rm }$ levels or $^{\rm }$F $_{\rm $Tm $^{\rm }$ levels) and nonselective (into $^{\rm $T $_{\rm $ Cr $^{\rm }$) excitation is dominated by three new centers. Based on structural and spectral characteristics, these centers are associated with the three possible perturbations produced by Cr3+ ions at the nearest neighbour Tm $^{\rm }$ ions. A selective energy transfer within these Cr $^{\rm }$-Tm $^{\rm }$ pairs is observed.
