Abstract
A model for dehydration, hindered by clustering, of wet particles of polycrystalline stannous chloride dihydrate in an inert gas stream, is presented and tested. Parameters describing the surface and geometry properties of the sample being dried, as well as the drying gas flow rate, are introduced and used to study the kinetics of sample drying. Proton NMR and weighing were used for experimental monitoring of water content and its macroscopic distribution in the sample. The influence of the model parameters on the dehydration simulation is analysed. The parameters are determined so that a reasonable agreement is achieved between the model and the experiments.
