Kinetic roughening by exceptional fluctuations

Abstract
Using simple scaling arguments it is shown that a sufficiently slowly decaying power law noise
distribution leads to nonuniversal scaling properties for a kinetically roughened interface. Good
agreement is found with recent simulations of Zhang (J. Phys. France
51 (1990) 2129).
